A ground laying ceremony was held for the MARK III mock-up tank construction under the scientific research project of technical research of membrane type LNG carrier on 26th June in DSIC, which was an important time schedule for the tank construction after the groundbreaking ceremony on 15th May.
The MARK III LNG-BMK type mock-up tank breaks the design of GTT standard mock-up tank and applies the mixed structure of fully-closed outside skeleton and double hull. The containment system has the design temperature of -163℃ and the design pressure of 2 barg. The research takes consideration to both the liquid tank of the large-size LNG carrier and the fuel tank of the LNG fueled ship. The research achievements will support DSIC to face the future broader market.
Due to the difficult construction and special differences of the MARK III mock-up tank, DSIC does well in pre-research, technical research, production and fabrication, etc. and launches the tasks, such as development design, steel cutting, block construction, materials procurement, quality inspection, ground laying & block assemble, etc., to finish the laying preparations in high efficiency and high quality, which makes a firm basis for construction of the containment system.
